Simple Energy to launch e-scooter on August 15

Mumbai: The launch of electric vehicles in Bengaluru, Simple Energy, announced on Saturday that it will launch its first flagship e-scooter, codenamed Mark2, on August 15 this year. Simple Energy was earlier looking to implement its first vehicle model by mid-year.

The e-scooter will debut in the first phase in Bengaluru, followed by Chennai and Hyderabad, Simple Energy said in a release. The company plans to eventually expand its presence to other cities as well.

In addition to setting up its manufacturing facility in Bengaluru, the metro city also houses its R&D unit. Suhas Rajkumar, founder and CEO of Simple Energy, said: ‘We are delighted to announce the launch date. August 15 is an important milestone for the country. Simple Energy aims to create history with a world-class product manufactured by an Indian company. He said the launch was scheduled for mid-August because it expects the situation stemming from the ongoing second wave of the pandemic to improve.

While the prototype version Mark1 was ready last year, the startup has now developed the production variant based on the prototype, Simple Energy said. The flagship e-scooter, featuring a 4.8 kWh lithium-ion battery with an alleged range of 240 km in eco mode and a top speed of 100 kmph, will be rolled out mid-year with pre-bookings from launch day. himself, followed by the deliveries soon, he said.

The company has a price of 1.10 lakh and 1.20 lakh for the e-scooter. The EV company wants to raise the A funding of $ 15 million (Rs 112 million) in the third quarter of this year and has announced the trials for vehicle testing, the company said and also wants to deploy charging stations in Bengaluru before the launch.
