Covid-19 in Rajasthan: Only 24,000 got their first vaccine jab in 18+ category

JAIPUR: Amidst the crisis of vaccine shortage, the drive was affected on Friday as only 24,659 got vaccinated in Rajasthan in the18+category.
Though the authorities had a target to vaccinate 34,172 for the day in this category, but number of those who turned up was less. Also, the total number of vaccination for the day that usually remained between1 lakh to 4 lakh, remained only 56,501 in the state in all the categories.
In Jaipur, people visited many vaccination centres and were asked to return as only 3,616 could get their first jab in the18+ category. “It has been fourteen days since I had registered, but I failed to get slot . If they are ill-prepared, then why did they start it,” said Richpal Singh, a resident of Jhotwara.
“We have asked the companies, including Serum Institute and Bharat Biotech. Except 3.5 lakh vaccines that we had received on Wednesday, we are yet to get more. For the 18+ category, we had 6.5 lakh vaccines out of which we have used 6,20,777 till Friday,” said Dr Raghuraj Singh, nodal officer, vaccination.
