CHANDIGARH: State health minister Anil Vij on Saturday said black fungus has now been declared a notified disease in Haryana.
The decision came after over 40 cases of black fungus were found in Covid patients in Gurugram, Karnal, Fatehabad and other districts of the state.
"Our team of senior doctors is in consultation with experts to plan the further course of action. Accordingly, the government too will take adequate measures for its management in the state," said Vij.
PGIMS-Rohtak and a tertiary care hospital of Gurugram were the first ones to report cases of black fungus in Haryana.
"Black fungus is a post-Covid complication. Till now, these cases went unreported. Now doctors will report to CMOs of the district, of any black fungus case detected. Health minister Anil Vij himself will be monitoring and reviewing the training and workshops related to this," said Dr Usha Gupta, director, Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP).
