Actress Ritwika Gupta who is best known for her roles in MTV’s youth-based show Girls on Top, NDTV Imagine’s superhit serial, Sawaare Sabke Sapne Preeto and Channel V’s Gumraah says she is eager to now explore the world of web. Her film “The Intruder” recently won big at international film festivals like Tagore International Film Festival, Mumbai International Film Awards, Port Blair International Film Festival, L’Age d’Or International Arthouse Film Festival, Golden Sparrow International Film Festival and Nawada International Film Festival. “It is amazing when your hard work gets appreciated, especially at a time when work has slowed down for most of us. The response has been encouraging and I feel right now, there is no right or wrong way to pursue your goal. Earlier our options were only limited to TV or films. Right now, we have OTTs, digital films, short films, social media. It’s a great time to be an artiste”, she says.
Ritwika, who has also acted in a military-based telefilm for History Channel, tells us that people have a misguided perception about the industry. She adds, “From the outside, you just see all the glitz and glamour but honestly, it’s a lot of hard work, struggle, dedication and passion that one needs if he or she wants to sustain.”
When asked if competition or failure scares her, Ritwika responds “Rejections and failure don’t scare me. I’ve been in the industry for over 5 years now and I realized you cannot make everyone happy. Some people will love your work, others will make fun of you. You just have to do your best, ignore the trolls and embrace the positivity.
