TRICHY: Tamil Nadu school education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi on Friday said necessary steps will be taken to regulate unreasonable fees demanded by private schools during the lockdown. Speaking after a Covid-19 review meeting in Trichy, the minister said the school education department had been receiving complaints from parents over the unreasonable demand for fees by schools. “It is unfair on the part of the private schools to seek fee for the transport facilities and separate fee for uniform. We will take it to the notice of the chief minister,” he said. He said a decision on reopening of schools would be taken only after Covid-19 positive cases come down significantly. The minister said “no” when asked if there was any plan to declare a zero academic year as not much academic activities happened in schools, especially in government schools.
