Poco and Vivo have announced an extended warranty for smartphones in India. The announcement has come at a time when the country is struggling with the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. It has led to many parts of the country going under lockdown to curb the increasing number of daily cases.

The first announcement was made by Poco through its official Twitter account. Poco has decided to extend the warranty for all of its smartphones by two months. The only catch is that it is applicable only for those units whose warranty is expiring in the month of May or June. The extension for eligible devices is already in effect and a user does not need to do anything or follow any steps.

It has further revealed that no new Poco smartphones will be launched in India this month. The team has decided to pause launch events for the time being as it is hoping for the situation to get better. It said all media partners will be notified accordingly as and when it will decide to conduct the next launch event.

On another hand, Vivo has announced a warranty extension of 30-days for users living in a lockdown-imposed area. It means if you are a Vivo user from an area where there is no lockdown, there are no changes for you. This will be helpful for users whose warranty is expiring but cannot visit service centers due to lockdown restrictions. The good thing is that the brand will count the 30-days period from the day service centers will resume business in these areas. Another thing to keep in mind is that the extension will be applicable only if your device's warranty or replacement time is expiring within the lockdown period.
