Covid claims 10 more lives, infects 560 in state
Active caseload reaches 5569; nearly 40 pc of active cases admitted in healthcare facilities

Imphal, May 13 2021: The second wave of Covid-19 pandemic continues to claim more lives in the state as government bulletins reported 10 fatalities and 560 new positive cases on Thursday.

With the addition of 560 new cases, the active caseload of the state has reached 5569, out of which 3370 are recuperating in home isolation.

The remaining 2199, which accounts for 39.49 per cent of the total caseload, are undergoing treatment in healthcare facilities including Covid Care Centres.

Since the beginning of the current year, the state has recorded 9408 new positive cases and 181 fatalities.

So far, 6010 new cases and 131 fatalities have been reported during the current month which includes 3863 positive cases and 89 deaths in the last seven days.

According to official reports, the 560 new cases included 555 civilians (287 male & 268 female) and 5 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) .

Their samples were tested at JNIMS (62), RIMS (69), Imphal East (9), Maipakpi (10), Mother's Care (2), IRL (2), SWISS (1), Gilead Health Care Centre (1), Little Clinic (3), RD Wing (7), Ema Hospital (3), Advanced Hospital (2), Asian Hospital (9), Iboyaima Hospital (1), Jivan Hospital (14), Shija Hospitals (37), Babina Diagnostics (88), Escent Diagnostics (42), Thoubal (84), Bishnupur (26), Churachandpur (40), Chandel (8), Senapati (2), Tamenglong (7), Tengnoupal (2), Kangpokpi (12), Kamjong (2), Noney (6), Jiribam (1) and Ukhrul (8).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (120), Imphal West (262), Thoubal (21), Bishnupur (45), Kakching (17), Ukhrul (9), Churachandpur (45), Chandel (9), Senapati (2), Tamenglong (5), Kangpokpi (12), Kamjong 3), Tengnoupal (4) and Jiribam 1).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

The 10 fatalities reported on Thursday include a 56-year-old male (IE), a 65-year-old male (IW), a 52-year-old male (IW), a 58-year-old female (IE), a 62-year-old male (Ukl), a 62-year-old female (IW), a 41-year-old male (IE), a 68-year-old male (IE), a 57-year-old male (IE), and a 64-year-old male (Spt), who died at Raj Medicity (2), Shija Hospitals (2), DH Ukhrul (1), RIMS (4) and JNIMS (1) hospitals respectively.

The cumulative number of deaths has reached 536.In the last 24 hours, 253 patients were discharged from CAPF (6), home isolation (199), RIMS (9), RD Wing (6), CCC Bishnupur (5), CCC Kakching (3), CCC Jiribam (1), CCC Ukhrul (8), CCC NSU (5) and CCC Churachandpur (11).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 37,596 (general population - 33,916 and CAPF personnel - 3,680).Cumulative number of recovered cases is 31,491 (general population - 27,988 and CAPF personnel - 3,503) and number of active cases is 5569 (general population - 5397 and CAPF personnel - 172).The recovery rate is 83.76 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1213 D type Oxygen Cylinders and 447 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities in the state.

So far, the inoculation drive has covered 2,91,152 individuals.

CCR report informed air passengers, who travelled to the state on (i) May 12 by Air India AI-713 in rows 17-23, (ii) May 10 by Air India AI-713 in rows 10-16, and (iii) May 3 by 6E-6034 in rows 24-30 and 6E-2615 in rows 26-31 to report to the Common Covid Control Room 1800-345-3818 or respective District Surveillance Officers (DSO) for further surveillance and necessary testing.

Meanwhile, 42 new positive cases were detected during RAT conducted at different testing centres in Kakching district on Thursday.

Out of the 42 new cases, 25 were detected at government testing centre and they are from Kakching Wairi Thong Anouba Pareng (1), Kakching Wairi Sabal Leikai (1), Kakching Wairi Khongnang Lamtei Pareng (1), Kakching Khunyai Leikai (4), Kakching Turel wangma (2), Kakching Sumak Leikai (4), Hiyanglam Mayai Leikai (1), Hiyanglam Awang Leikai (1), Hiyanglam Hiranmei (8), Lamjao Mayai Leikai (2).Three positive cases were detected at Ema Hospital and they are from Kakching Phoushupat Leikai, Kakching Khunou, and Tuishimi of Tengnoupal District.

The remaining 14 cases were detected at Jivan Hospital and they are residents of Kakching Paji Leikai (3), Kakching Wairi Laishangbam (1), Kakching Moirangthem Leikai (2), Kakching Sumak Leikai (1), Pallel (1), Hiyanglam Mayai Leikai (1), Thounaojam Mayai Leikai (1), Thongjao Mayai Leikai (2), Chairel Khuman (1), and Khangabok of Thoubal District (1).As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, the number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (13104), Imphal East (8621), Thoubal (2890), Churachandpur (2560), Kangpokpi (1312), Tamenglong (1582), Bishnupur (1934), Senapati (895), Ukhrul (910), Kakching (1364), Chanel (760), Noney (465), Tengnoupal (456), Jiribam (375), Kamjong (331), and Pherzawl (37).Fatalities counts in different districts are Imphal West (190), Imphal East (136), Thoubal (64), Churachandpur (43), Kangpokpi (17), Tamenglong (7), Bishnupur (35), Senapati (2), Ukhrul (5), Kakching (18), Chandel (12), Noney (1), Tengnoupal (3), Jiribam (1), Kamjong (2), and Pherzawl (0).However, the figure differs with data released by CMOs of some districts.

The state health authority and its subsidiaries such as IDSP and Common Control Room are not willing to provide district-specific case status despite repeated requests from media.

Meanwhile, data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains at 12,116 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 17,989 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 2,09,638 tests per million population against the national average of 2,22,356 TPM.

Case fatality rate rose to 1.43 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, 3767 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 14.87 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate further rises to 5.78 per cent.
