Always a challenge to score runs in England: G. Hanuma Vihari

Hyderabad: G. Hanuma Vihari has fond memories of his first English voyage, where he imprinted his class with a half-century and a three-wicket stamp during his debut at the Oval in 2018. This time, the 27-year-old, aware of the difficult challenges, is focused on making hay in the English sun.

“It was a good debut for me. There were good memories of the last tour. I got a few runs and took three wickets. I also focus on my bowling. I have to bake more in the nets, “he said from England.

Vihari, who did not play in the suspended IPL this year, flew to England last month to play for Warwickshire to get acquainted with the weather and conditions there. ‘I found the best way to get the series in the series was to play county cricket. When I got here, the wickets were fresh and the weather was quite cold, but I was getting used to the conditions. It is always a challenge to score runs in English conditions. I use this period with Warwickshire as part of my preparation for the Test series against England. ”

The middle-order batsman said it was always challenging to play against an English attack in England.

“They have one of the best attacks in the world. It will be a tough match between the bat and the ball. We won the series in Australia and want it to be supported in England as well. ”

Vihari said he should wait for an opportunity to play in the Indian XI. ‘It’s hard to get a place in the Indian eleven. There is a very healthy competition. That’s why it’s about performing well and staying focused. ”

The former Hyderabad captain last played for India in the third Test in Sydney where he saved the match with Ravichandran Ashwin. “I played the most important innings of my career in the Sydney Test despite a thigh muscle injury. I then got a lot of appreciation with (Ravichandran) Ashwin, who helped India save the third Test with a draw. This will be one of the top accomplishments in my career. Although I missed the Test series against England at home, I want to take the Sydney performance to this series in England. ”

Asked about his performance so far in England, Vihari said he has played in three county matches, where his performance has been good. “Even though I didn’t get enough runs, I was able to get the ball well under the hem.”

Vihari has given all praise to coach Ravi Shastri and the support staff for helping to form the team of a world-class team. “(Virat) Kohli was an inspiring leader for young players. I feel proud to be part of the team that is number 1 on the rankings. This is a great achievement. ”

G Hanuma Vihari says he feels responsible for helping the needy in the second wave Covid-19 which struck the country.

“I feel responsible. Although there are cases of Covid-19 last year it was not as bad as this time. The people are suffering and so I thought I should help the needy people, who are not even getting beds or medicine. I feel it is my duty. I started on my own and gradually I formed a team of 80 people because I could not handle so many matters. We now have 200 people asking for help. Even though I’m in the game, the group will coordinate with the people involved and try to resolve it. ”
