Hyderabad: The special procedure for administering the second dose Covid vaccine for individuals older than 45 years will not be taken on Saturday and Sunday following the decision of the Ministry of Health of the Union to widen the gap between the two doses of Covishield vaccine from 12 to 16 weeks, said dr. G Srinivasa Rao said. on Friday.
Due to the change in the gap between the first and second dose, the Government of India needs to incorporate changes in the CoWIN portal so that it is possible to administer the second dose only after a minimum of 12 weeks. .
In light of the above changes, the Department of Health will not be doing the vaccination on Saturday and Sunday.
The vaccination campaign will resume on Monday, or 17 May, after which the details of beneficiaries and modality will be identified soon, said dr. Rao added.
