Assam: Summer vacations advanced

GUWAHATI: Assam has decided to prepone the summer vacation for the students of elementary, secondary and senior secondary classes, rescheduling their holidays from May 15 to June 14 instead of the earlier window from July 1 to July 31.
In a notification issued by the state’s education department on Thursday, principal secretary B Kalyan Chakravarthy said in view of the current Covid-19 situation in the state, it was decided that the summer vacations in the schools will start from May 15.
“Considering the fact that in view of Covid-19 situation in the state of Assam and educational institutions being closed as on date and with the objective of ensuring that the students of elementary, secondary and sr. secondary schools (Class-I to 12) do not suffer from any academic loss and therefore, it is decided that the summer vacation in schools scheduled from July 1 to July 31,2021, as per the academic calender, is hereby rescheduled from 15 May,2021 to 14 June,2021,” the notification read.
