have passed on a lot of networking opportunities with executives/ballers/entrepreneur brahs because i don't know how to golf. I need to learn how to be somewhat ok/respectable so i can go golfing. I live a couple of minutes walking distance from a beautiful country club srs.

Get cheap used clubs, take lessons, then once you have a nice swing buy nice clubs.
If you practice solo you’ll groove in bad habits.---GIVE-------------------------------

Depends on where you live and as to how much lessons will cost you, but they will be very helpful....b/c if you just go out there not knowing what you're doing, you'll develop bad habits
If you're average height, go buy a generic full starter set of clubs from academy or walmart for $300 bucks and bag of recycled balls and go play 9 holes....spend about 30-45 minutes on the range first to get an idea of what you're getting into. watch a few youtube vids and get after it.
Are you athletic or have you played sports at all? What shape are you in? Do you have any friends that play that have decent patience.....ask them to play with you and watch them, ask them for pointers here and there.
I've been playing for a few years on and off.....more so recently and while I'm getting more consistent I still have a few shots every time I go out that are just completely ****/lose the ball, make me want to snap the club in half.
You don't just start playing and become decent/respectable.

Before you step foot on a course make sure you can actually aim at a flag at the range and hit towards it pretty consistently.
Take lessons and just remember that everyone sucks and for the vast majority of people you go for 4 hours of drinking and hanging out with the boys.Liverpool FC. YNWA.

Down here taking someone deer hunting is an acceptable substitute to golfing. Ded fukn srs
There are many positives to this as people are more agreeable to you when they see you armed and could possibly leave them in the woods. Not that you'd do anything untoward but its the implication...6'2"
