The active cases tally has mounted to 16,568 while total cases stand at 78,793.

S Mohan Kumar, director of the Health and Family Welfare Service, said that according to the data till 10 am on Thursday, 24 patients have died due to infection in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 1,069.

The cumulative death toll has reached 1,069 after 24 persons died of the disease in the last 24-hours.

The Puducherry headquarters received the highest 1550 new Covid-19 cases, followed by Karaikal (227), Yanam (123) and Mahe (42).

The UT recorded a test positivity rate (TPR) of 20.89%.

The recovery rate here is 77.67%, which is lower than the national average of 83.26%, while the death rate stood at 1.35%.
