Panaji: Heavy rainfall is predicted at isolated places on May 15 and heavy to very heavy rainfall at few places on next day and heavy rainfall at a few places with very heavy rainfall at isolated places in the subsequent 24 hours, states the latest update issued by the weather department.

The IMD said that a low pressure area has formed over southeast Arabian Sea and adjoining Lakshadweep area on Thursday morning and likely to become well marked over Lakshadweep area by Friday morning, concentrate into a depression over the same region by Saturday morning and intensify into a cyclonic storm during the subsequent 24 hours.

Under the influence of cyclone heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely at a few places on May 16 followed by squally winds with speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 60 kmph very likely to prevail along and off North Goa coast.

On Monday, heavy rainfall is very likely at a few places with very heavy rainfall likely at isolated places.

The cyclone is very likely to intensify further and move north-northwestwards towards Gujarat and adjoining Pakistan coasts and it is likely to reach near Gujarat coast around May 18 evening.
