The expanded KIldare Village outlet shopping centre will add 31 new tenants and 500 extra jobs by the autumn, while Pennyes is expanding its opening hours in Dundrum.
eanwhile, Brown Thomas has pushed back opening of its new Dundrum store until spring 2022. As retailers bet on consumers returning to physical shops Kildare Village, run by Value Retail Management Ireland, reopens this Monday, May 17 with a string of new tenants to be added over the coming weeks.
They include Pinko, an Italian women’s fashion brand, and Gym+Coffee – the Irish athleisure brand, in which One Direction star Niall Horan is an investor/advisor. Other new tenants include Murphy’s Ice Cream and a Skechers outlet. The new development will also feature a multi-storey car park.
Virtual shopping proved so popular during lockdown that it will remain a permanent service at the outlet, a spokeswoman confirmed.
In a new development, Clara Halpin has been appointed deputy director of personal and private shopping at Kildare Village. Ms Halpin previously worked in Dublin, advising male and female corporates and legal eagles on how to do suits, pm dressing and weekend casual.
Ms Halpin says the new hybrid business office model may trigger a new hybrid in office attire. People are eager to get dressed up, she says, “but they will have a more creative approach to it”.
“People have got used to a more unstructured vibe, but I think they are going to want to be smart. They still need a jacket, but they may go with a softer jacket,” she said.
