Arunachal continues to witness spike in Covid-19 cases; death toll mounts to 69

Itanagar, May 13 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Covid-19 case tally rose to 20,854 with detection

of 279 fresh cases of infections in the last 24 hours, while a security personnel succumbed

to the virus, taking the fatalities toll to 69.

Of the new positive cases, Itanagar Capital Complex reported the highest at 73, followed

by Lower Subansiri at 35 and Lohit 33, as per the bulletin issued by the state Directorate of

Health Services.

Barring 71, all the patients are asymptomatic.

According to the bulletin, a 59-year-old ITBP personnel with pre-existing health conditions

from 9th Bn ITBP, Lohitpur, Tezu in Lohit district, expired on May 11 at DCH, Tezu. He was

tested positive through rapid antigen test (RAT) and expired due to Covid-19 infection.

On a positive note, 108 patients were discharged following recovery from the virus, taking

the total recoveries to 18,691.

Active cases stood at 2,094.
