Xiaomi has launched FlipBuds Pro, a new pair of truly wireless earbuds with active noise cancellation. The pair is yet another look-alike of Apple AirPods Pro, with a short stem design and a curved body. However, the FlipBuds Pro looks to be featuring a high-gloss all-black metallic body. Xiaomi touts the earbuds get a mirror finish, thanks to a nano NCVM coating that gives it a premium look.
The charging case has an oval-shaped look. You can charge it via a USB-C port or a wireless charger.
The Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro supports active noise cancellation of up to 40 decibels, along with three modes. These modes are daily, office, and air travel, which means it adjusts the ambient sound according to different preset surroundings. The earbuds also support Qualcomm’s aptX Adaptive that aims to compress audio at a variable bitrate, which means the tech will help to send higher bitrate files for better audio quality and smaller size when you are in an environment with a lot of competing wireless signals. Xiaomi claims the FlipBuds Pro also offers a low-latency gaming audio-visual experience.
Under the hood, the Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro is powered by Qualcomm’s QC5151 ultra-low power audio chip and 11mm ultra dynamic sound drivers. The Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro supports Bluetooth 5.2.
Apart from the design, the Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro also supports Apple AirPods Pro-like gestures. This means long-pressing either left or right earbud will switch between transparency and noise-canceling modes. A single press will play/pause/accept calls. Also, a double press will move to the next music track or reject calls.
Xiaomi claims the FlipBuds Pro can offer 28 hours of battery life in total with the case and up to 7 hours of playback on a single charge. The earbuds support fast charging that offers up to 2 hours of playback in just 5 minutes of charging with the case.
The Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro is priced at 799 yuan in China ($124). It will go on sale from May 21 in the country. Pre-sales begin tomorrow. The earbuds come only in the black color option.
