“The positive outcome of the lockdown is evident. Hence, a decision has been taken to extend the lockdown by another 10 days, from May 16 to 25,” the chief minister said. On Wednesday, Bihar registered 9,863 fresh cases.
The state government has issued a detailed guidelines as to what is permitted and what’s not during the lockdown period in the state. All state government offices will remain closed and essential services will be exempted.

Shops, markets, private offices
All mode of transportation
All school, collages, coaching institutes and educational places
No examination will be conducted in state universities
Restaurants and other eating places, they can operate for home delivery only
All religious places
Cinema hall, shopping complex, swimming pool, stadium, gym, parks
No event can be organised at public or private places
No event can be organised for sports, politics, entertainment, and education
What’s allowed
Office of district administration, police, civil defense, power, water, fire brigade, health, disaster management, communication, post offices, environment – with minimum workforce.
Banking, insurance, ATM, offices of non-banking companies
Construction works
Activities related to e-commerce
Irrigation and related activities
Farming and related activities
Print and electronic media
Telecommunication, internet services, broadcasting and cable services
Petrol pump, LPG stations
Grocery shops for essentials
Cold storage and warehouse
Construction materials, and related hardware shops two days a week – Monday and Thursday
Hospitals, and construction related units
Medicine shops, nursing homes, medical labs, and ambulance services
Public transport with 50 per cent of their capacity – service is restricted to those involved in essential services and scheduled to travel by trains and flights
Vehicles used for activities related to health
Private vehicles in which passengers with train and flight tickets are travelling
Freight vehicles
Private vehicles on inter-state highways going to another state
Marriage is allowed with maximum 20 persons
So far, Bihar has recorded 6.22 lakh Covid cases and 3500 deaths. Currently, the state has nearly 1 lakh active cases. In the last couple of weeks, the states recorded 10-15000 cases daily.
