YAMUNANAGAR: The Crime Investigation Agency of Haryana's Yamunanagar police arrested two unemployed youths for their alleged involvement in the murder of an elderly couple in Saraswati Colony of Jagadhri town. A public relations officer (PRO) of the police said that the accused have been identified as Harsh alias Lucky and Rajat. Rishipal Goel (80), a retired bank employee and his wife Snehlata (75), who lived alone at their hous, were found murdered on May 10, police said. On the complaint of Rishipal’s son Amit Goel, a case of murder was registered against unknown persons at Jagadhri City police station. “The police is yet to recover the rod and other evidence used in the crime, the remand of accused persons would be sought. Both the accused were unemployed and they needed money. Therefore, they committed the murder for the same. Harsh was living at a rented accommodation near the couple’s house where he met Rajat and both became friends,” said the PRO. “Both Harsh and Rajat knew that the elderly couple lives alone and they conspired to murder them. On the intervening night of May 9 and 10, they entered the couple’s house and assaulted them with an iron rod. Later, they strangulated them with the pillow,” the PRO said. He said that the matter is being investigated further.
