Kaizer Chiefs head coach Gavin Hunt has dismissed reports that he is on the verge of being sacked following a disappointing campaign.

Chiefs missed the chance to move into the PSL top eight positions after being held to a 1-1 draw by Swallows FC at FNB Stadium on Wednesday.

Before the match, reports had circulated that former coach Stuart Baxter, the last coach to successfully lift a trophy with the club, was set to make a sensational return by replacing Hunt.

When contacted by Sport24, the Soweto giants denied any knowledge of plans to make a managerial change, while Hunt also dismissed it in his post-match press conference.

"I haven't heard a thing, and I'm not on social media anyway, so I don't know what's going on," Hunt said on Wednesday.

"This has been my worst year ever in 27 years, so I don't know what's going on, but if you understand football, you'll know that there's a lot of things that we need to do."

Chiefs find themselves currently rooted in the bottom half of the table in 10th position with 30 points after 27 matches.

Languishing two points off eighth position, Hunt's side will be aiming to win all of their three remaining league fixtures to have any chance of finishing within the top eight.

For Chiefs, their focus switches to the CAF Champions League, where they welcome Tanzanian side Simba SC in the first-leg of a quarter-final clash at FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 21:00.
