Bengaluru: Owing to the growing cases of COVID-19 in the state, the Karnataka government on Thursday decided to postpone the SSLC Examination. “SSLC Examination slated to begin from June 21 has been postponed in view of the surge in COVID19 cases. The revised schedule will be decided after the second wave dies,” Karnataka Primary & Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar said.
Karnataka government on Wednesday night decided to suspend vaccination drive for the 18-44 age group at government facilities from May 14 until further notice.
Private hospitals, however, will continue administering vaccine doses for all age groups. Chief secretary P Ravi Kumar indicated that the vaccination crisis is set to go on for a couple of months with the state receiving only 50% of its fortnightly quota from the Centre.
With 5,92,182 active cases, Karnataka on Wednesday climbed to the top of the country’s Covid-19 list, going past Maharashtra’s 5,46,129.
