Chandigarh, May 11

The MC today extended the suspension of afternoon water supply to May 18.

According to the civic body officials, due to ongoing repair work of canal at various locations, discharge of water in canal at the Kajauli waterworks has been reduced by the Irrigation Department, Punjab. Due to this repair, raw water from the waterworks cannot be supplied in full capacity.

Hitesh Puri, Chairman, CRAWFED, said, “Residents are not getting the afternoon water supply since mid-April. It should be restored soon.”

The MC had spent about Rs200 crore to get additional water supply. After getting it, the morning and evening supply were extended by an hour each and the afternoon supply was started in the city. — TNS
