Hyderabad: Traders unhappy over sudden lockdown, fearing heavy losses

Hyderabad: The city traders are unhappy about the sudden decision of the Telangana government to lock down. The government has repeatedly stated that the pandemic in the state is under control and that there is no intention to enforce lockdown.

Due to the continued assurance of the state government, the merchants purchased new stock for Eid-al-Fitr and the upcoming wedding season. Due to the sudden introduction of the lockdown, they are likely to suffer heavy financial losses.

According to the traders, the state government ensured until a few hours before the night clock that no evening clock or lock would be set in the state. Nevertheless, a sudden nightmare was declared.

Then the general secretary and the health officials said that the situation is under control and that the state government is taking various steps to control the control Covid-19 surge and that no lock-up will be applied.

Even the prime minister reiterated that no lock or day clock is needed. Following the explanation from the Prime Minister’s office, the traders obtained fresh supplies with a view to the state government taking the necessary steps to curb pandemic and that no lockdown would be applied.

But the sudden turn of the state government on its earlier assertion disoriented the trading community.

The cloth and shoe retailers said they had bought millions of rupees of fresh stock in hopes of a bumper sale. Due to the sudden announcement of the closure, these traders are likely to incur huge financial losses.
