One day Orientation & Discussion on NSS and Mitigation of Second Wave of Covid -19 pandemics

A One day Orientation & Discussion on NSS and Mitigation of Second Wave of Covid -19 pandemics for Programme Officers under NSS Cell Manipur University, was organised at the Court Hall of the Manipur University by the NSS Cell of Manipur University.

The Programme started by paying tribute to the heroes of Anglo-Manipur War 1891 at 11.30 am.

In the said programme the Regional Director National Service Scheme, Regional Directorate Northeast Region Mr. Dipak Kumar grace the function as the Chief Guest. Dr. R.K. Nimai Singh IAS (Retd) along with Mid. Firoz Khan ,State Liaison Officer NSS Govt. of Manipur and Deputy Secy. YAS as the Guest of Honour and Dr. M. Nodiyachand Singh NSS Programme Coordinator NSS Cell, Manipur University as the president.

A total of 20 participants 'ncluding Programme Officers from different colleges under Manipur University and Volunteers of MU attended the programme. Dr. RIC. Nimai Singh on his talk on the topic Mitigation of Second Wave of Covid-19 Pandemics stress the importance of strict adherence to the Covid-I9 Appropriate Behaviour and wearing of the face mask, he also highlighted on the new strains of the covid -19 and was of the view that the disease can only be fought scientifically, he also discuss about the global, national and regional pattern and importance of Covid-19 vaccination later he encourage the participants for mass vaccination.

Mr. Dipak Kumar's on his Guest of Honour speech presented a power point presentation on which he minutely discussed about the History, Philosophy, Objectives, Functions and Organisational Structure of the National Service Scheme, for which he was lauded by the Programme Officers and the Programme Coordinator of MU.

Dr. M. Nodiyachand Singh on his presidential address emphasises the role of a Programme Officer in smooth functioning of a NSS Unit and need for motivation to the young volunteers. He equated the Programme Officers to that of an army Commander of 100 energetic volunteers and appealed to all the Programme Officers to realise their power and potential for shaping a society.
