Beaumont man sentenced to 45 years for murder

A Beaumont man has been sentenced to 45 years in prison after he was found guilty in the 2019 killing of a Beaumont woman.

Ronald Goloe, 52, pleaded guilty on May, 5 2021 to the murder of Joyce Acey. On Wednesday, Jefferson County Criminal District Attorney Bob Wortham announced his sentence.

The incident was discovered when a homeowner found that a fired had been set in the garage apartment of a home in the 2500 block of Evalon Avenue in Beaumont. Home surveillance video caught Goloe and Acey entering the residence an hour after midnight.

Several minutes later, the video showed Goloe leaving the building and setting the structure on fire. After the Beaumont Fire Department put out the fire, they discovered a body, which later was identified as Acey.

An autopsy later determined Acey’s death was a homicide via carbon monoxide poisoning.

“Joyce Acey’s murder is a senseless crime. Clearly, Ronald Goloe needs to be removed from society to protect the citizens of Jefferson County,” Luke Nichols, Jefferson County Assistant Criminal District Attorney, said in a statement. “Even when confronted with the clear evidence assembled by Beaumont Police detectives, he showed no remorse for her death.”
