IPL 2021: MI’s Bumrah opens up about his camaraderie with Boult, says, ‘looking forward to bowl to him in WTC Final’

IPL 2021: Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult shared some of the best pacer-partnership in IPL 2021 with Mumbai Indians. The duo led MI’s pace attack, especially in the death overs, troubling batsmen with their precise yorkers and variations. They are responsible for MI’s two wins in defending totals. But as the IPL 2021 got suspended due to rising COVID-19 cases inside IPL’s bio-bubble, they had to go their separate ways. However, come June, the duo will be reunited, albeit in different colours when they face each other in the World Test Championship Final in Southampton. Bumrah will lead India’s charge while Boult will spearhead the Kiwi attack. Bumrah said he is looking forward to bowling him in the ICC WTC Final.

“It’s an interesting partnership. I’m very happy and enjoy bowling with him and looking forward to bowl to him in the World Test Championship Final as well,” Jasprit Bumrah said in a video posted by Mumbai Indians on Monday.

Trent Boult was also in full praise of the Indian star. He considers Bumrah one of the best in the world and learnt a thing or two about bowling in Indian conditions.

“Bumrah is obviously a classy bowler. He is very experienced and someone with a lot of knowledge in these conditions. I hope to pick his brains as much as possible. I know that he would lead the attack very nicely. So, I feel very honoured to be with him,” Trent Boult said who returned to New Zealand ahead of ICC WTC Final. He will join the squad in England after a week.

IPL 2021: ‘We’re trying to learn from each other,’ Bumrah says

As for Jasprit Bumrah, he said he enjoyed the partnership while sharing ideas with Trent Boult, adding that they always learn from each other.

“It’s been very interesting with Boulty. I’ve obviously played against him. I’m getting to know his point of view and how they operate in New Zealand and how they started their cricket. So, it’s always a good conversation. We’re trying to learn from each other and feeding from each other the different ideas, different aspects of the game that we could improve,” Jasprit Bumrah said.

“You could always learn from each other’s experience. He is very professional about his work ethic and always on the go. He is one of the most skilful bowlers going around. So, I was looking forward to play with him. There’s always a fun banter going on whenever we’re together. He is always very energetic. Whatever he does, he tries his best. That’s one of the good things I’ve observed about him,” he added.

Trent Boult too said he enjoyed spending time with Bumrah and joke around the duo’s batting. “It’s just nice to spend some time with Bumrah. I’m not a very serious guy. I always joke around. Sometimes, it might be about our batting. He thinks he is a bit of super-striker with the bat. Hopefully, we won’t see too much of that. I think it’s the best part of IPL itself getting a chance to rub shoulders with classy guys from other countries,” Boult said.
