Barclays Plc hired former Credit Suisse Group AG banker David MacGown as a managing director in the financial-institutions group.

New York-based MacGown will join the firm in August, John Miller, Barclays’ global head of banking coverage, said in an emailed statement. He’ll report to Gary Antenberg and Joel Fleck, co-heads of FIG in the Americas.

MacGown was most recently head of balance sheet and capital structure advisory in Credit Suisse’s financial-institutions group. Before joining the Zurich-based lender in 2014, he worked as a managing director at Citadel Securities, Citigroup Inc. and Morgan Stanley.

He’s advised on transactions including Social Capital Hedosophia V’s pending merger with Social Finance Inc.; Charles Schwab Corp.’s acquisition of TD Ameritrade; CPPIB’s purchase of Antares Capital and Citigroup’s $58 billion stock swap in 2009.

“FIG is a critical sector of focus within our investment banking business,” Miller said in the statement.

MacGown is one of four Credit Suisse financial-institutions group bankers to exit in recent weeks for posts at rival banks.
