Thane, May 11 (UNI) Urban Development and District Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde has directed the administration to complete the repair work of all roads under the jurisdiction of all the Municipal Corporations in the district by the end of May.
He gave this instruction while presiding over a pre-monsoon review meeting of the district held at the collector's office here on Monday.
He also reviewed the pre-monsoon preparations of all the Municipal Corporations in the district including Thane city.
He further instructed to ensure that uninterrupted power is available during the upcoming rainy season, so that no one is killed due to power shortage.
The minister further directed the Municipal commissioners to do everything possible to prevent accidents due to road repairs, non-cleaning and open manholes on the roads.
He also instructed to make a proper arrangement for evacuation of citizens from dangerous buildings, need for boats in flood-prone areas and control rooms coming under each Corporation.
He also instructed the district collector to keep 3 teams of NDRF ready to deal with landslides, waterlogging and floods.
Mr Shinde instructed the medical department to keep the stock of medicines and beds ready to prevent the spread of communicable diseases during the rainy season.
In the meeting, Thane collector Rajesh Narvekar, MMR Region's 14 Municipal commissioners, police officers and officials of all government offices were present.
