Club members and MLA escorts are harassing innocent locals: UCCOC

Imphal, May 11 2021: United Club Coordinating Committee (UCCOC) alleged that escorts of an MLA and members of Khagee Club, Kyamgei are harrassing innocent commuters in the name of conducting drive against drug abuse.

UCCOC, a united committee form by youth clubs in Urup, Keirao Makting and Kiyamgei Muslim, said in a statement issued today that even after the incident of harassing innocent people and physical assault was reported to the Police Station, no action has been taken up.

Md Najir Ahamad (35) of Kiyamgei Muslim Mayai Leikai, a private security guard, was assaulted on March 26 while returning home from work; Md Abas Khan of Kiyamgei Muslim Awang Leikai was assaulted on April 1; Md Meinurddin, Md Zamud Habib, Md Mujibur and Md Kaman Habib, residents of Kiyamgei Muslim Awang Leikai were also physically assaulted on May 5.Md Tarique, Md Salud and Md Farooque of Kiyamgei Awang Leikai were also assaulted at Khagemba Macha Ibungo Laimang and Rs 40,000 and a license gun was also snatched from them on May 5.Md Ahamad Ali, secretary UCCOC alleged in the statement that even after such incidents were reported to Irilbung Police Station and even was reported to Imphal East SP, no actions has been taken up and no one has been arrested in connection to the incidence.

UCCOC sought attention of the Chief Minister and other CSOs and also added in the statement that if the culprits are not brought to justice soon, UCCOC is prepared to start strong protest till their demands are met.
