The agitating employees of the National Health Mission (NHM) working with the Health Department resumed their duties on Tuesday.
Employees under the banner of the NHM Regularisation Sangharsh Committee were on an indefinite strike from May 5 over regularisation of their services.
Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu had warned the agitating employees on Sunday to join their services till May 10 (5 pm), else, their services will be terminated immediately.
Civil Surgeon Dr Rohit Mehta said as many as 185 employees reported back on Monday and 150 staffers went ahead with the strike. These employees were removed from their services by Civil Surgeon on Monday.
A delegation of the Sangharsh Committee met the Health Minister in Chandigarh and appealed to give them a day to resume their duties. Meanwhile, the terminated employees heaved a sigh of relief after the Civil Surgeon received a letter from the state government permitting them to join their duties on Tuesday.
Sohawa Singh, a leader of the agitating employees, said the entire staff has joined their duties.
