In an Instagram post, D'Niel Strauss said that his wife, Rolene, had been admitted to hospital after falling ill on Sunday.
"I feel so sorry for you," he captioned a photo of Rolene lying in a hospital bed.
"On Sunday evening @rolenestrauss fell extremely ill and we had to rush her to the emergency room," he explained. He went on to say: "We thought that she would only spend 1 night in hospital, but this is the second night."
In the lengthy Instagram post, D'Niel said that he has known Rolene for nine years, and she has never been ill. "So this is very difficult for me to see," he confessed.
"We don't know what is wrong and doctors ran numerous tests today to try to figure out, but we don't know anything yet," he told his Instagram followers.
D'Niel, who in the Instagram photo sits with Rolene in the hospital room, added: "Doctors do not suspect the illness that the media is writing about all the time, so I was allowed to visit her."
In response to D'Niel's Instagram post, Rolene shared a message with her followers on Instagram Stories, saying: "Thank you for all the prayers and messages since D'Niel's posts a while ago."
About her condition, she said: "Initial thoughts was that I might have appendicitis, but that was ruled out after various test and special investigations today."
"We are not exactly sure what the cause of the pain is yet, but the pain medication is helping and I am optimistic," she said.
"My heart aches for my two boys who don't understand where mommy is and what is wrong with her," she said about being away from her two young sons.
