GUWAHATI: Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, wife of chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, said it would take some time for her to come to terms that her husband, who had predicted three decades back that one day he would one day become the CM, has finally become one. Speaking to the media after Sarma’s swearing-in as the state’s 15th CM here on Monday, she said, “When I was about 17 years old and he about 22 years studying in Cotton College, I had asked him what he wants to do in his life. He told me ‘tell your mother that I will be the chief minister of Assam.’ I was stunned and thought he did not know what he was saying then.” “He would always talk about politics and when we married, he was already an MLA. Today, I realised that how much focussed he was on achieving what he had told me long back,” Bhuyan Sarma said. “For me, he is always Himanta. Even last night, he suddenly said ‘chief minister-designate’ and then I asked him who to which he replied that it was he. I think it will take time for me to come to terms with the fact that he is the CM,” she added.
