Nifty FMCG index under pressure; Heavyweight HUL drags; Jubilant Foodworks top gainer

Jubilant Foodworks advanced 2.2% at Rs2,825.40 per piece. Marico (up 1.66%) and Tata Consumer (up 1.52%) also gained substantially.

Nifty FMCG stocks were bearish on Tuesday tracking overall negative markets. Hindustan Unilever dragged the most while Jubilant Foodworks led the gains on Tuesday.

The Index has been mostly calm amid the surge of Covid-19 cases in India. At around 2.00 pm, Nifty FMCG was trading at 34,093.35 down 110.90 points or 0.32%, touching a high of 34,299.35 and low of 34,010.95 during intraday trade on Tuesday.

Jubilant Foodworks advanced 2.2% at Rs2,825.40 per piece. Marico (up 1.66%) and Tata Consumer (up 1.52%) also gained substantially. 

Varun Beverages and Procter & Gamble Hygiene gained over 0.8% while  Godrej Consumer and Colgate Palmolive also were over 0.5% on the upside. Nestle India, United Spirits, Britannia, and Dabur India traded flat. 

HUL emerged the top laggard on Tuesday by shedding 1.4% at Rs2,398.65 per piece. United Breweries dropped over 0.7% while Emami and ITC also dived 0.5%.
