Delhi, 5th May 2021
The joint statement of Manipur Students’ Association, Delhi (MSAD) Naga Students’ Union, Delhi (NSUD) & Kuki Students’ Organisation, Delhi & NCR (KSOD&NCR) .
To,
The Chief Minister Manipur
Civil Secretariat
Imphal, Manipur- 795010
Representation requesting for medical assistance in Delhi & NCR.
Sir,
We hope this letter finds you well and in good spirit. We are writing to you on behalf of the students and workers of Manipur citizens in Delhi & NCR to apprise you about the ground realities in Delhi as result of the second wave of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.
As you are aware, Delhi and NCR is one of the most severely affected states and the state is running short of COVID care bed in hospitals and makeshift COVID-19 care centres, remdesivir, oxygen, ambulances and other medical provisions.
Due to non-availability of bed and difficulty in accessing hospital bed, citizens of Manipur in Delhi too are resorting to home isolation resulting in severe health problem and unfortunately some of our people have even lost their lives in recent months.
The students’ bodies from Manipur have been collaborating with other NGOs and concern citizens and are actively engaging with the COVID-19 affected patients by providing necessary information on the availability of medicine, hospital bed, oxygen etc. but owing to the limited resource the students’ Union is not able to respond to this crisis effectively.
In order to augment the gap arising due to non-availability of oxygen and hospital beds we would like to request your esteemed authority to kindly provide the following healthcare essential as immediate response:
1. 20-30 oxygen cylinders and others essential medical provisions to be made available in Manipur Bhavan for emergency cases.
2. One ambulance/vehicle to be stationed at Bhavan House for emergency response.
3. Formed Emergency COVID-19 Response Team with Resident Commissioner/Deputy Resident Commissioner as Chair along leaders of various students’ organizations as its member.
We also would like to appeal to the government to act a facilitator in reaching out to the central government and also to the respective state governments wherever the citizens of Manipur are residing to provide equal access to healthcare facilities and to provide essential medical assistance to the people facing health/medical emergencies.
The joined students Union in Delhi & NCR from Manipur state are confident that with such provision available at our disposal the severity of COVID-19 can be reduced thereby saving precious lives.
We look forward to your prompt response and help in healing and saving the lives of the people.
Thanking you in anticipation.
Yours Sincerely
