Hyderabad: Kautilya School of Public Policy (KSPP), GITAM Considered to be University, Hyderabad has signed an MoU with the Telangana State Innovation Cell (TSIC), an initiative of the Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications, Government of Telangana.
The MoU signed by Ravi Narayan, Head of Innovation, the Government of Telangana, Professor D Gunasekaran, Registrar of GITAM, and Sridhar Pabbisetty, Founding Director of the Institute, aim to use the means of both parties to create a robust world class’ Ecosystem for social innovation (SI) in the state.
Kautilya School of Public Policy will be the ‘research partner’ for TSIC to help build a vibrant ecosystem and will make evidence-based recommendations to thrive in a conducive administrative and regulatory environment for social innovation in the state.
The MoU focuses on research areas that apply to social innovations to facilitate the understanding of SI business models and decision making. They will also identify and explore mutually beneficial opportunities through annual and biennial engagement work plans through pilot plans (pilot projects) to generate an evidence base to assist the creation, roll-out and distribution of the SIs.
Students from Kautilya will also be involved through TSIC and its sister organizations through research opportunities and capstone projects to provide hands-on experience. Kautilya also works with various stakeholders to identify government and administrative reforms that enable an effective environment for SIs.
“We will now be able to use pilots’ lessons for social innovation that we will roll out together to influence major policy issues in the right direction. Telangana, which is at the forefront of many social innovations, will be able to create a social innovation ecosystem supported by the lessons learned from this collaboration, ‘said Jayesh Ranjan, Secretary General, Industries, and IT & C, Telangana Government, said.
Sridhar Pabbisetty, founding director, Kautilya School of Public Policy, said: “With the student dynamics constantly evolving, it will encourage practical thinking and analytical knowledge to give students practical experience.”
