Coming down heavily on the governments, the Delhi High Court on Tuesday said that they are also responsible for the rise in coronavirus caseload. The comment was made by the court when a lawyer said that everyone is responsible for this because they had also reduced the precautions. On this, the court said that governments are also responsible for the surge.
The court said that elections were held during the crisis and even fairs (Kumbh).
To promote Plasma donation, the help of media and well-known personalities will have to be taken, the court noted and asked the Delhi government to go to some well-known personalities and ask them to appeal for donating plasma.
The court also asked the Delhi government to take forward the campaign of plasma donation with the help of cricketers, film stars and people associated with politics.
Justice Sanghi said that a lot of vigilance is needed to end the lockdown so that the states can deal with the COVID-19 crisis, while Justice Rekha Palli said that so many young people have died, it is a tragedy. The court asked the Center and the Delhi government to consider starting vaccination at other open places including the stadium in Delhi, like Mumbai. The court asked the two governments to consider the petition filed in this regard as a report and decide on it as per policy and law soon.
The court has given these guidelines while hearing the petition of one Amandeep Aggarwal. The petitioner had said that the vaccination drive in Mumbai has been started at the stadium and other open places. This helps people to not get in touch with each other and helps in creating social distance. The petitioner's lawyer AS Chandiok said that there is no justification for the lockdown and curfew when people stand in line with each other for the vaccine.
The court said that if vaccination is done in an open area, it will also reduce the pressure on the hospitals' medical staff and they will be able to treat COVID-19 patients properly. In view of the pandemic, it is necessary for all people to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
