Nagaland notifies total lockdown from Friday

Kohima, May 11 (UNI) Nagaland Chief Secretary J. Alam, as a Chairperson of the State Executive Committee of Disaster Management, has notified for a ‘Total Lockdown’ throughout the state with
effect from Friday next under the provision of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
In an order the Chief Secretary informed that all activities and movement of persons or individuals shall be suspended during the lockdown period, however, movement of oxygen and oxygen cylinders and other medical equipments, all health care facilities, pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and movement of healthcare workers, COVID-19 vaccinations and COVID testing and medical emergencies are allowed. All staff of Governor’s Secretariat, Chief Minister’s office, Chief
Secretary’s office, High Court, District Administration, Police, security forces, banks, IPR, AIR, Doordashan, print media and electronic personnel and other emergency services is allowed. Petrol pumps will remain open only by ensuring there is no crowding. Dimapur Airport to remain open and movement of staff and passengers are permitted.
The order said that the District Task Force shall evolve mechanism to facilitate opening vegetables, fish and meat, milk booths, bakeries, groceries, electrical and electronic shops and animal feeds for public purchase. Hotels and lodging are allowed with minimum staff, but restaurants will remain closed and home delivery services allowed. Funeral services permitted only with 20 persons.
Administrative Heads, Head of Departments and Head of Offices are permitted only with urgent
and essential matters and Government employees should available on call. Strict enforcement of
these restrictions shall be ensured b the respective District Task Force and strict checking shall be
done at the district entry points to prevent non-essential movement of the people. Any person(s)
acting in violation of this order shall be deemed to have committed an offence punishable under
Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code and relavent provisions of the District Management Act
2005, the order said.
