COVID-19: T’gana govt approves the task force for the procurement of medicines, injections

Hyderabad: In an effort to obtain and supply regular COVID-19 related medicines and injections as needed, Telangana State Cabinet on Tuesday approved the composition of a task force.

The decision was taken during the meeting of the State Cabinet, convened by Prime Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

The Minister of Information Technology and Industry, KT Rama Rao, will head the task force. Other members include Secretary General (Industries) Jayesh Ranjan, General Secretary (GAD) Vikas Raj, General Secretary (Panchayat Raj) Sandeep Sultania and CM Secretary and Special Officer of the CMO on Covid, Rajasekhar Reddy.

The task force is likely to obtain these medical supplies from the central government and other states as they are allocated and distribute them to the hospitals in the state.

Earlier last week, Teleshana general secretary Somesh Kumar said there was no shortage of medicines and consumables in the state.

“Telangana has a sufficient number of medicines, including Remdesivir and Tocilizumab. We have 90,000 vials of Remdesivir and 63,000 vials of Tocilizumab. The situation is under control. Storage and fear of shortages are the problem, “he said, addressing a press conference here.

The cabinet decided on Tuesday to set up a lockout for ten days from 12 May. The Cabinet also decided to give a relaxation period from 06:00 to 10:00 for the people for their general activities and needs.
