Bengaluru The Indian defender for men’s hockey team Amit Rohidas feels that the use of video analysis during preparations has played a major role in the recent success of the team during tours through Europe and Argentina.
He said video analysis was also a useful tool to correct players’ mistakes in the national camp. ‘Video analysis helped us on both tours. “We analyzed our opponent’s style of play, their movement in attack as well as in defense, and adjusted accordingly,” he said.
“We did not have much experience on the field, but I can say that we did our homework pretty well through the video analysis and that benefited us,” said Rohidas, who played 97 games for the national team. .
Rohidas currently trains with the men’s senior core group at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) center here. ‘At the camp we also work with the help of video analysis on the areas where our team needs to correct or improve. It is therefore one of the most important assets for us to cover our base for the Olympic Games. ”
The team remained unbeaten during the tour of Europe in March.
India outscored Germany 6-1 before drawing 1-1. In the two matches against Great Britain, India were drawn 1-1 before concluding the tour with a 3-2 victory.
During the Argentina tour in April, India won two of the practice matches and won both the FIH Pro League matches against the reigning Olympic champion.
“I feel we’ve got some good momentum and want to continue what we did at camp,” Rohidas said.
The Sundergarh-born player played over the experience of international hockey after a year of hiatus, saying: ‘I thought I had nothing extraordinary to do. I just need to repeat all the things we did during workouts. ”
“As a team, we also took one game at a time, and we did not bother about winning or losing. We used it as an opportunity to prepare for the Olympics. ‘
He stressed that the team can improve its goal conversion rate, and that video analysis can be an important help. ‘We need to improve our conversion rate. We can be more clinical. We must try to convert these opportunities as quickly as possible. This will indirectly help the defensive line.
“We use video analysis to work in these areas,” the defender said.
Rohidas also said that players focus exclusively on the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo and that the recent successful tours have boosted their confidence.
