At 75, Goa records the highest covid fatalities in a day so far

Panaji: On Tuesday, Goa reported 75 Covid-19 fatalities the highest in a day so far, pushing the death toll to 1805. The state reported 3124 new infections and 2475 recoveries while the case positivity rate dropped to 37 % from 46 % reported on Monday.
Since May 1, a total of 622 covid fatalities have been recorded with half of them occurring in Goa Medical College (GMC). Health minister Vishwajit Rane said more deaths are seen between 2 am and 6 am in GMC.
“Today, 26 patients died during that period,” Rane said.
As many as 48 casualties were reported from GMC on Tuesday, 17 died in South Goa district hospital and five deaths were reported from private hospitals.
The youngest fatality of the day was that of a 34-year-old man from Salcete in South Goa. Two patients – a 70-year-old unknown male and an 84-year-old man from Orlim – were brought dead to the hospital. Ten patients died within 24 hours of their admission with few hours after they were hospitalised.
