Sachin Vaze, the 'encounter specialist', has been dismissed from the Mumbai Police. An assistant police inspector (API), Vaze, is in NIA custody in connection with the Antilia bomb scare case and Mansukh Hiren death case.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Mumbai Police commissioner confirmed that an order has been issued for Sachin Vaze's dismissal from the police force.
A probe into the matter led the Maharashtra ATS to Sachin Vaze, who had been reinstated to the Mumbai Police after facing a suspension that lasted more than 15 years.
The vehicle recovered from outside Antilia was seen in the possession of one Mansukh Hiren, a Thane-based car dealer. Hiren's body was found in a creek in Thane less than a week after the incident outside Antilia.
Along with Vaze, the NIA also has custody of suspended constable Vinayak Shinde, cricket bookie Naresh Gaur and Vaze’s colleague Riyaz Kazi in connection with the case.
In a handwritten statement to the NIA, Sachin Vaze had accused former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh of demanding Rs 2 crore from him to retain him in the police force.
