Two new ways to activate Google Assistant on Android under development Report
The Google Assistant could get two new ways to get activated with Android 12. One way would be by long pressing the power button on the Android phone, as per a report by PhoneArena. The report claims that according to the code found in the latest version of the Google app, the company has already started working on implementing the feature which should bring up the virtual assistant after a long press on the power button. As per the report, “serious work” has already begun on the feature and it is highly likely that it will be launched in the coming months.

The other feature said to be in the works is a double-tap back gesture, which should activate the Google Assistant, as per a report by XDA Developers. This feature, however, is said to be rolled out later than the power button one and arrive after the Android 12 launch.

Some of the Android phones offer a dedicated button for the Google Assistant. Google may remove this need for an extra button with the help of the trigger function on the power button. The easy way to summon up the Assistant right now is to long press the Home button. With these two features, if they do get rolled out, Google will increase the number of ways you can access its virtual assistant. The tech giant seems to want the Android phone users to make use of the Google Assistant more and to make it popular. Some of the other features that you may expect with Android 12 are an Extra Dim dark mode, an improved notification list and many other improvements in the UI.
