DMK MLA Pichandy takes oath of Affirmation as Pro-tem Speaker before TN Guv

Chennai, May 10 (UNI) Ruling DMK Legislator K Pichandi today
took oath as the Pro-tem Speaker before Tamil Nadu Governor
Banwarilal Purohit at the Raj Bhavan.
Mr Pichandi, who was elected to the Assembly in the April six
elections from Keezhpennathur constituency, took the oath in
Tamil.
Assembly Secretary K Srinivasan in a press release here said
Mr Pichandi, Speaker, Pro-tem appointed by the Governor
solemnly affirmed in Tamil before the Governor at Raj Bhavan
as a member of the 16th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.
Chief Minister M K Stalin, Ministers and Chief Secretary V Irai
Anbu were present on the occasion.
Mr Pichandi will preside over the first session of the Assembly
tomorrow during which newly elected MLAs will make and subscribe
Oath or Affirmation.
Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Assembly will be elected on
May 12.
