Rice, financial aid to 83 000 more pvt school teachers: Sabitha

Hyderabad: Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy said on Monday that the decision of Prime Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to provide financial support and free rice to 83 993 additional teachers and staff of various private schools in Telangana will be implemented immediately.

To give some relief from financial problems due to the Covid Pandemic, Prime Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao recently announced that all private school teachers and staff from different private schools in Telangana receive R 2,000 and 25 kg of rice every month. Later, it was decided to expand the initiative and cover another 83,993 beneficiaries.

Sabitha Indra Reddy said on Monday that so far about 1.25 lakh teachers and staff from private schools have already benefited from the unique scheme. To implement the initiative, the state government incurred 25 crore and delivered 2 840 tons of rice.

A total of 11,819 beneficiaries who were to receive the free rice but at the beginning of the initiative not for logistical reasons will now receive the support. With the 83 993 more teachers and staff added to the list of beneficiaries, a total of about 2.09 lakh will benefit from this initiative which costs Rs 42 million and 5 224 tons of rice.
