Bengaluru, May 10 (UNI) Karnataka on Monday witnessed 39305 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24-hour, taking the total number of infections in the state to 1973683.
According to official sources, in the last 24-hour as many as 596 COVID-19 patients had succumbed to the disease, pushing the total number of fatalities to 19372 on Monday.
The sources said that the highest number of deaths were registered in Bengaluru district (374), followed by Ballary recorded 26 deaths, Hassan (22), 15 each in Bagalakote and Tumakuru, 12 each in Haveri and Hassan district.
The sources also informed that in the last 24-hour as many 32188 COVID-19 patients got discharged from various hospitals across the state after completely cured from the disease, there exists 571006 active cases in Karnataka.
As many as 124110 people had undergone for the COVID-19 tests, and the positive rate for the day stood at 31.66 per cent and the Case fatality rate accounted for 1.51 per cent, the sources added.
It may be recalled that the state government in its efforts to contain the spread of the COVID-19 disease had clamped a 14-day lockdown in the state and the state police are strictly enforcing the shut-down.
