TIM agrees EUR 4 mln Cecina FTTH rollout

Telecom Italia (TIM) announced an agreement with Cecina town council to begin rolling out a fibre-to-the-home network in the Tuscan coastal locality in a total investment of EUR 4 million. The company said the build will eventually enable residents in over 10,000 homes to access the internet at download speeds of up to 1 Gbps, up from the current maximum of 200 Mbps. TIM's existing FTTC network in Cecina already covers around 12,500 homes, some 98 percent of the town's population.
