CHATRA: Taking note of the rumours doing rounds on social media regarding the Covid-19 vaccine, Chatra deputy commissioner Divyanshu Jha on Monday warned of taking strict action under relevant sections of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and the IPC against the miscreants.
Terming the activity as an unlawful one, Jha said, “If proven guilty under the relevant sections, he/she can be imprisoned for a year.” He asked the residents to inform the administration if they find anyone indulging in spreading false rumours.
Jha said that rumours are circulating on social media, leading to doubts about the safety and efficacy of the vaccines. “Some people are even discouraging the beneficiaries from taking the shot,” he added.
He urged everyone not to take such rumours seriously and take the jab as that is the only way to safeguard oneself against the virus.
The DC has asked SP Rishav Kumar Jha, sub-divsional officers, incident commmanders and other officials to remain alert to track such mischievous messages on social medial and penalise such trouble-makers immediately.
