    For Indian sailors, its few ports in a COVID storm as countries restrict entry

    Indian nationals are among the largest community of seafarers globally. About 240,000 of an estimated 1.6 million are from India, the Financial Times reported, citing the International Chamber of Shipping.

    As Anmol, a young seafarer from the city, scrolls through the news on his phone, he’s reminded of what happened a year ago, when Covid-19 curbs across the world resulted in crews being stranded on ships for months on end even after their contracts ended.
