14-day state lockdown begins in Karnataka

Bengaluru: Amid an increase in the number COVID-19 affairs in Karnataka, the 14-day-long exclusion in the state began Monday in the state.

Police personnel were seen prosecuting offenders and seizing their vehicles in Shivamogga and Kalaburagi.

It was also seen that commuters were undergoing vehicle inspections when the closure started from today.

To the rise of COVID-19 cases, the Karnataka government on Friday imposed a full two-week lock-in in the state from 6 a.m. on May 10 to 6 a.m. on May 24.

BS Yediyurappa, Chief Minister of Karnataka, briefed on the move and said that eateries, meat shops and vegetable shops in the state could function from 06:00 to 10:00 during the lock-up.

‘As COVID-19 cases rise in the state, corona evening clock was not successful. A complete exclusion will therefore be introduced on 24 May from 6 to 6 pm on 24 May. All hotels, bars and pubs will remain closed. Eating places, meat shops and vegetable shops can work from 06-10 hours, ”said the minister.

Yediyurappa said it was a temporary decision to close and urged migrant workers not to leave the state.

However, he added, “not even one person will be allowed after 10:00 in the exclusion. I suggested that police officers act strictly. We decided this after looking at the death toll and increasing number of cases.”

According to the Union Ministry of Health, Karnataka was one of ten states that reported 71.75 percent of the new cases on Sunday. The state reported 47,563 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, it was said.

According to the ministry, Karnataka was one of the 13 countries that made up 82.94 percent of India’s total active business yesterday. According to government data, the state had 5.48861 active cases until Sunday.

The ministry said Karnataka was one of ten states that accounted for 74.93 percent of new deaths on Sunday. The state reported after Maharashtra at 482 the second highest deaths in the country.
