Propylene is the primary component in a variety of plastic products that are rapidly growing in demand.
As part of the contract, Honeywell will provide technology licensing and basic engineering design, in addition to services, equipment, catalysts and adsorbents for the plant. This represents UOP’s third award for a C3 Oleflex unit in North Africa, following earlier wins in Egypt and Algeria. Read more…
India: Nouryon, Atul Commence MCA Production at New Unit
May 3, 2021 – Nouryon and Atul have successfully started production at Anaven, a new joint venture in Gujarat, India, that will help meet the rapidly growing demand in India’s agricultural, personal care and pharmaceutical markets. Anaven is India’s largest monochloroacetic acid (MCA) production site, with a current capacity of 32,000 tons of MCA per year, with the possibility of a rapid expansion of up to 60,000 tons per year. MCA is used as an essential raw material for a variety of products, such as adhesives, pharmaceuticals and crop protection chemicals. Atul consumes a portion of the MCA directly in its own production of crop protection chemicals. Read more…
Russia: Lummus Technology Secures Master Licensor Contract
May 03, 2021 – Lummus Technology has announced that it has been awarded a master licensor contract by PJSC Nizhnekamskneftekhim for its ethylbenzene, styrene monomer, ethylene dimerization and olefins conversion technologies. These four plants will be part of the expansion of an olefins production facility in Nizhnekamsk, Russia. The dimerization and olefins conversion units will be the first in Russia.
Lummus’ scope includes the technology license and basic engineering for the ethylbenzene, styrene monomer, ethylene dimerization and olefins conversion units. Once complete, the units will produce 250 KTA of ethylbenzene via the Ebone technology, 250 KTA of styrene monomer via the Classic SM technology and 150 KTA of polymer grade propylene production via olefins metathesis chemistry using Lummus’ ethylene dimerization (Dimer) and olefins conversion technologies (OCT).
Singapore: Neste Selects Emerson for Digital Transformation of its Refinery
May 04, 2021 – Emerson has been selected to support the digital transformation of Neste’s refinery in Tuas, Singapore. Emerson’s automation systems and software will help Neste deliver high-performance, efficient operations, supporting Neste’s plans to increase production by up to 1.3 million tons per annum by 2023.
At the end of 2018, Neste made a strategic decision to expand its production facility in Singapore via the Singapore Expansion Project. On top of its existing 1.3 million tons annual production capacity of renewable diesel, the expanded refinery will have additional capacity to produce up to 1 million tons of sustainable aviation fuel and renewable raw materials for polymers and chemicals, supporting the company’s goal to reduce customers’ greenhouse gas emissions by at least 20 million tons annually by 2030.
