Moga, May 9

A 55-year-old woman was hacked to death at Dharamkot town in Moga district allegedly over a money dispute, police officials said today.

The woman, Balwinder Kaur, had been living with her two sons at Kartar Colony in Dharamkot. Victim’s neighbour, 25-year old Manpreet Singh, alias Mani, had been arrested in this regard.

A criminal case under Sections 302, 452 and 506 of the IPC had been registered against him at the Dharamkot police station, said ASI Balvir Singh.

Preliminary investigations suggested the youth had borrowed some money from the victim and she was demanded it back. The incident took place when the victim was home with her younger son, who is mentally challenged, said Jagdeep Singh, her elder son. Her husband works as a security guard in Rajasthan. — TNS
